“Technocrat’s music is heartwarming and blissful to the ears. Their sound reminds me of a cross between Death Cab for Cutie and Explosions in the Sky. A true hidden gem tucked away in the SoCal music scene.”
– Lixie Hernandez, Bandwidth Mondo Radio Producer/Host

“One of the best crisp, tight sounding bands I have ever scene live.”
– Mondo Cosio, Bandwidth Mondo Radio Host

Technocrat is Chris McGuire (keys/guitar/vocals), Steven Tapia (drums), and Eric Noble (bass), a band based in Los Angeles/Orange County.

Technocrat began in 2012, when Chris McGuire started making songs using loops, samples and computer programs. He reached out to former band member Steve Tapia to record and perform drums, and the two started booking shows not long after. Nicolas Juarez was recruited and the three set out to interpret the recorded material into a live performance.

After playing modest shows and gaining a small but enthusiastic following they soon became frequent guests at GRN+GLD events, performing and collaborating with a wide range of producers, singer/songwriters, and other like-minded artists. They adapted their performances to fit different audiences, playing to crowds in living rooms, dive bars, art shows, warehouses, clothing stores, tattoo shops, and other venues that weren’t really venues.

In March of 2013, Technocrat self-released So Far, an EP consisting of intimate songs with carefully embellished arrangements using a wide range of electronic and analog sounds. Quiet moments surrender to lush sequences. Somber and complex, yet with deceptively melodic hooks, So Far is a collection of accessible inward-looking songs.

They can be found performing in Long Beach, Los Angeles and Orange County, playing in clubs, bars, radio shows, and other performance spaces.
